The Minister of the Interior gives every Belgian police officer or assistant a small set of badges and rank marks, a chasuble and an intervention armband. Chasubles In addition to badges and legitimation cards, police officers and assistants have other identification means. The chasuble is one of them. In order for the police officers to have the same look, the Minister of the Interior has decided to provide all of them with the same chasuble. Security The aim of this bright orange chasuble is above all to ensure that police officers are visible in the street as well as to guarantee their safety when they work. For instance, the orange chasuble is often worn during traffic control and public order missions. Moreover, the new chasuble bears the "Police" mark and logo. Wearing such chasubles does not exempt police officers from showing their legitimation card when they want to be identified as such. In order to make the police officer visible, the chasuble is worn over the uniform or the civilian clothes during police actions. Every police officer must see to it that the chasuble is not misused by third parties.
