Police officers do not always have the opportunity to show their legitimation cards, for instance during specific actions in civilian clothes or because of a risk of arms use. In such circumstances, they can be identified by wearing an intervention armband over their civilian clothes.
Following the example of the orange chasuble, wearing the intervention armband does not exempt police officers from showing their legitimation card.
Numbering
An invisible number is printed on every intervention armband. Every police officer has his/her own armband. Such measure has been taken to prevent third parties from misusing the armband. Moreover, the loss of an armband will always lead to thorough investigations.
