The general commissioner and the general directors of the Federal Police signed a “Diversity Charter” on 12 November 2008.
This charter is an important tool for developing a dynamic diversity policy.
This policy is intended to increase all the staff members’ well-being and to contribute efficiently to the police’s security policy.
This policy is not only essential to the development of security, it is also an important instrument to carry out the “strategic plan for increasing the staff members’ involvement” mentioned in the 2008-2001 National Security Plan.
This means that the Federal Police have to provide clear and consistent information about what their view of diversity is, not only in terms of human resources but also in terms of cooperation between the different services of the Federal Police, in order to achieve common goals. In addition, implementing a consistent policy and providing unambiguous information about it fosters transparency and provides a good starting point for bringing about lasting improvements and working in an innovative way.
