General Directorate of Support and Management
The General Directorate of Support and Management is in charge of managing the non-operational means, i.e. the staff and the material and financial means of the entities of the Federal Police.
Moreover, it fulfils some support tasks for the benefit of the Local Police zones, the local authorities and the Federal Police entities.
Besides its own support missions, the General Directorate of Support and Management also carries out important missions which contribute to the integrated working of both the Federal and the Local Police. Those missions are not considered as support missions as such, but they contribute directly or indirectly to the functioning of the integrated police.
The services and directorates of the General Directorate of Support and Management:
Composition
The General Directorate of Support and Management consists of more than 4,000 staff members. More than half of them work in the entities of the general directorate itself (1/3rd operational staff - 2/3rd administrative and logistic staff). In addition to that, there are 1,200 aspirants under training in the various staff categories (basic staff, middle staff and officers) and more than 500 contractual staff members who are employed in several units of the Federal Police.
The General Directorate of Support and Management consists of:

- The Directorate of Mobility and Staff Management
- The Directorate of Recruitment and Selection
- The Directorate of Legal Affairs, Litigation and Statutes
- The Directorate of Internal Prevention and Protection at Work
- The Directorate of Internal Relations.
- The Directorate of Training which is composed of the National Officers School, the National
Investigation School and the Non-Operational Documentation Centre
- The Directorate of Logistical Support which comprises central and decentralized services
- The Directorate of Infrastructure and Equipment.
- The Directorate of Purchase
- The Directorate of Finance
- The Directorate of Telematics
The medical service
- This service comprises central and decentralised services.
Several specific services at the level of the director-general:

The Management Support Service is in charge of formulating the needs, ensuring the implementation and the follow-up of new methods and predicting the evolution of the missions, techniques and means. This service is also responsible for the implementation of the National Security Plan and the distribution of personnel and material means.

The mission of the Strategic Information Crossroad Service is to collect, process and analyse the management data (personnel, logistics, telematics and finances) that are necessary to draw up score boards (overview tables) at management level and to lend support with regard to personnel, logistics and informatics for the treatment of transversal files on behalf of the director-general, the members of the Management Support Service and the directors of the General Directorate.

The Non-operational Information Service is in charge of creating a national database for non-operational data. The latter must allow a functional analysis for the management, processing and analysis of (non-operational) data with regard to personnel, logistics and finance. An integrated (single input, uniform nomenclature and encoding, etc.) and updated system must allow to find the right information at the right place and at the right time.
The EPIS (Enterprise Police Integrated System) and MIS projects are led by this service.

The main task of the Budget Service is to manage the budget of the Federal Police. This service has the (final) responsibility for the elaboration of the budget and also has to make sure that all the measures are taken with regard to the principles of a sound budgetary management.

The Quality Service is composed of the following divisions: processes/project accompaniment, mediation service and quality (optimal management). There is a relation with the internal supervision and the audit. Until now, only the processes/project accompaniment part is being developed at the level of the General Directorate in order to provide support and accompaniment for the execution of strategic action plans for the benefit of the directorates.

Missions
The services offered by the General Directorate cover various fields:

As far as personnel is concerned, the General Directorate of Support and Management is in charge of the recruitment, the selection, the management of careers, statutes, litigations and internal communication towards the personnel of the integrated police services.

As for material means, this general directorate is responsible for the management of the logistic means, the management and supply of equipment (collective and individual: basic equipment and general and specific function equipment) for the Federal Police and, on demand, for the Local Police, as well as for the management of infrastructure put at disposal of the Federal Police.

In addition, the General Directorate of Support and Management manages all the technical aspects of the IT systems, databases and police networks through its Directorate of Telematics

The finance management (budget-accountancy and accounts) as well as the preparation and the awarding of public procurement contracts for the purpose of the integrated police are also part of the tasks of this general directorate.

This general directorate also carries out a mission of prevention, protection and well-being at work and is in charge of a medical service.
