Directorate of Finances
Mission
The Directorate of Finances’ tasks are the administrative management of the Federal Police’s finances as well as the budget-making process and the execution of the budget.
Scope of activities
- The Directorate of Finances implements and monitors the budget after it has been legally approved.
- It is also responsible for the accounting treatment of all the Federal Police’s income and expenditure. This task involves, on the one hand, controlling and making the payment of expenditure and, on the other hand, managing the Federal Police’s revenue and invoicing the tasks performed for external third parties.
- With prior approval of the Court of Audit, the Directorate of Finances also pays the bills subject to the provisions of the Government Procurement Act.
- In addition, the Directorate controls all operations having a financial impact.
- Finally, it is in charge of the internal financial regulations. This involves among other things copying legal texts and internal notes in a handbook intended for all the members of the integrated police.
Composition
The Directorate of Finances is made up of three services:
The Support Service
- This service is in charge of the financial regulations and the financial control.
- It is also in control of the administrative simplification process and of the computing system.
The Design and Monitoring Service
- This service is in charge of the budget-making process as well as of the internal and external monitoring of the budget.
- Furthermore, it carries out and controls investments and payment orders, and is in charge of credit authorisations and revenue recording.
The Execution Service
- This service makes the necessary payments with regard to missions.
- It also performs the accounting of funds, revenue and expenditure on staff.
