Mission
The Directorate of Purchase is entrusted with the preparation and the awarding of public procurement contracts, within the limits of the delegations granted by the Minister of Home Affairs, on behalf of the Federal Police and, on request, of the Local Police.
Scope of activities
The Directorate of Purchase is a specialised purchase service that is mainly in charge of dealing with requests for all kinds of equipment (any type of vehicle, piece of equipment, arms, services, etc.) made by the various services and units of the Federal Police and, therefore, calling for tenders.

The police zones can have recourse to some significant public procurement contracts related to police equipment or specialised services. In this way, the Local Police services can benefit from a professional know-how, substantial economies of scale as well as a significant reduction of the administrative procedures that are necessary for those kinds of purchases.
Composition
The Directorate of Purchase is composed of a secretariat, a management service and three purchase offices.
The management Service
- This service shares out the files amongst the purchasers, supervises and improves the terms of reference.
- It is also in charge of the global follow-up of the files and the price supervision.
The purchase offices
- Office 1 - Vehicles, arms, specific gear.
- Office 2 - Textile, individual equipment.
- Office 3 - Telematic equipment.
These offices prepare and carry out the public procurement contracts. The purchasers draw up the terms of reference of each project and carry out the individual follow-up of the files they are entrusted with.
The purchasers are also in charge of linking up the beneficiaries of the public procurement contracts and the suppliers or service providers.
