Federal Police at SHAPE
The unit symbol
|
|
- Our badge comprises the SHAPE symbol at the centre.
- Two gold swords, unsheathed, are superimposed on a gold scroll, bearing the official maxim: "Vigilia Pretium Libertatis" (vigilance is the price of liberty).
- Two sprays of olive leaves in gold at the bottom of the scroll indicate the dedication of the NATO nations to peace; the swords show the armed strength necessary to preserve peace. The position of the swords produces the letter "A", representing the Alliance.
- Within the scroll, and behind the swords, are twelve silver fronds, stemming from the olive sprays, and denoting the original signatories of the North Atlantic Treaty. They produce, by their position, rays of hope.
- The striping of the Belgian federal police constitutes the background of the symbol. This chevron-patterned striping is reminiscent of the stripes on military uniforms and of the SHAPE military identity. It also indicates that our unit is keen on performing its missions on behalf of the SHAPE institution and its members.
- The blue and orange colours as well as the DGA logo have been used to denote our belonging to this directorate of the federal police.
- "Police fédérale auprès du SHAPE" and "SHAPE Federal Police" are written on the edge of the symbol. French and English are the two official languages of SHAPE.
- This symbol may only be borne and acquired by members of the SHAPE Federal Police.
