Composition

The Directorate of General Reserve is composed of specific departments:

• The Cavalry department.
• The Protection department.
• The Special intervention department.
• The Detachment department.

Missions

• Specialised or ordinary operational support to maintenance of law and order missions of the Federal and Local Police on the whole national territory.
• Technical assistance in maintenance of law and order matters to coordinating directors and, on their request, to Local Police corps chiefs.
• Maintaining a permanent operational intervention reserve.
• Operational support to Federal or Local Police services (surveillance horse patrols, support for planned administrative or judicial police operations).
• Escort of transport of valuables, transport of dangerous prisoners and surveillance of Belgian embassies abroad.
• Performing the Royal Mounted Escort missions.
