
Missions of the General Commissioner
The General Commissioner performs the following missions:
- Preparing the national security plan and assessing its execution by the Federal Police.
- Coordinating the tasks of the directorates and services that are directly under his authority.
- Coordinating all the directorates and services and the activities of the general directorates. To this end, he organises meetings with the general directors on a regular basis and sees to it that the information flow between himself and the general directors or between those is optimal.
- Submitting the Ministers of the Interior and of Justice useful proposals concerning matters connected with the competence of the Federal Police.
- Ensuring the public relations of the Federal Police.
- Leading and coordinating the drawing up of the budget and controlling its implementation.
- Seeing to it that the Federal Police and their members have sufficient logistic means that are appropriate to their missions.
- Seeing to it that the quality of the training of the integrated police staff members permanently reaches a sufficient level.
- Seeing to it that the quality of the training of the Federal Police staff permanently reaches a sufficient level.
- Conducting the necessary audits related to the functioning and the efficiency of the Federal Police.
- Getting involved in research and development related to the organization and the functioning of the police services and establishing federal norms in those fields.
