The General Commissioner is the head of the Federal police. He ensures specific missions, directs and coordinates the three general directorates.
He also has his own directorates and services within the General Commissioner’s Office.
He is assisted by a Cell Management Support.
The directorates of the General Commissioner:
- The Directorate of Operational Police Information
- The Directorate of International Police Cooperation
- The Directorate of Relations with the Local Police
- The Directorate of Special Units
- The 27 Decentralised Directorates of Coordination and Support
As the General Commissioner has to guarantee a more efficient integrated cooperation of the two levels of police as well as of the general directorates and directorates of the Federal Police, he is also responsible for the Decentralised Coordination and Support Directorates that are present in each judicial district. These decentralised Coordination and Support Directorates offer assistance and coordination in those missions of the administrative police services that concern more than one police zone. They are the linchpin between the local police services and the Federal Police.
