Is there a list of addresses and telephone numbers of all Federal Police departments?

The telephone numbers and addresses of the police departments are available per municipality in the telephone directory. You can retrieve the telephone number and address of a member of the Federal Police through our website. We would like to ask you to impart the reason why you wish to contact this department or person. It is also possible to call the exchange of the Federal Police (02 642 61 11).

Local Police

You want to reach the police as quickly as possible?

In case of emergencies, you can always dial 101 to reach the police. Call 100 in case of injuries as a result of an accident. Mobile phone users can call 112 all over Europe, provided that your mobile phone is equipped with a SIM card (even when this card is out of range or when you have no more credit). Please pay attention to the fact that the three above-mentioned numbers are to be dialled for emergencies. When your call is not urgent, please dial the regular telephone number of the nearest local police station (www.infozone.be).

If you are in an emergency situation, you should call the emergency centres (101/112/100). To help you as quickly and adequately as possible, the calltaker of the emergency centre will ask you a number of specific questions. An SMS is time-consuming and therefore not an efficient means of communication in emergency situations. However, deaf people or people with a hearing and/or speech defect are unable to communicate with the emergency centre by telephone. The aim is to develop an SMS project for this target group. This requires the cooperation of several departments (mainly in the telecommunication sector). Currently, a legal framework for 'SMS for the deaf' is in preparation. A working group under the direction of the Belgian Institute for Postal services and Telecommunications (BIPT) will further develop this project.
